Chinese herbal formulas for treating Damp-Heat in the Upper Jiao, i.e. Damp-Heat in the Lungs and Stomach, include Clearing Qi and Resolving Phlegm Pill and Ganlu Sterilizing Dan. 1. Clearing Qi and Resolving Phlegm Pill: It can clear the lungs and resolve phlegm (clearing heat from the lungs and resolving phlegm evil). It is used for cough with excessive phlegm, yellow and thick phlegm, fullness in the chest and abdomen caused by phlegm-heat obstructing the lungs. It is not suitable for those with wind-cold cough and phlegm-dampness obstructing the lungs. 2. Ganlu Sterilizing Dan: It can clear heat and dampness (removing heat and dampness from the body), resolve turbidity and detoxify. It is used to treat plague, summer-warmth, damp-warmth (warmth disease caused by feeling dampness and heat), and evil in the qi division. Fever with yellow eyes, chest tightness and abdominal distension, limb soreness and pharyngeal swelling, dandruff rash, swollen cheeks and thirst, diarrhea, thin white or thick and greasy tongue coating, or dry and burnt heart of the tongue.
