How long does it take for a bone suture to close?

Bone sutures are usually referred to as epiphyses, which typically close gradually between the ages of 18 and 22. Metaphyseal is actually a term that describes an image of the human skeleton that appears during radiologic examination, and once it closes, it means that the limbs and bones may stop growing. Typically, when height and limb length remain constant for an extended period of time without significant change, it is a sign that the epiphysis may be closing. Most people’s epiphyses close between the ages of 18 and 22, with the latest closure occurring no later than the age of 25, and very few people have epiphyseal closures that do not close throughout their lives. Closing of the epiphyses is also an important sign of bone maturity. Usually there are no obvious symptoms of epiphyseal closure, but if necessary, you can go to the hospital to check whether the epiphyses have closed.
