After regular treatment of comminuted fracture of the thigh, if the X-ray review in five months shows good healing, you can gradually start to walk without crutches.
Comminuted fractures of the thigh need regular examination and treatment, because the femur is the most load-bearing bone in the body. Therefore, most of the comminuted fractures of the femur need to be treated surgically, and after the surgical treatment, it will take three to six months for the bone to recover (through the period of primitive bone scab formation).
At five months, X-rays can be reviewed. If the X-rays show that the fracture is healing well, then you can gradually begin to stand and walk without crutches. The main thing to note is that the first time to take off the crutches, must be supported by family members gradually, to avoid falling and re-injury.
If you can walk after five months of comminuted fracture, please consult your doctor.
