How to prevent and treat nail fungus?

It is a very common disease, usually an infection of the soft tissue on both sides of the big toe nail, but less common in the fingers, and the inflammation is usually located at the base of the finger nail. Although this is a minor problem, the infection is red, swollen, painful, oozing and pus-filled, and cannot be touched, causing great inconvenience in daily life, especially in sports, and more troublesome is that some nail infections persist for months, and although they are treated with wound disinfection and anti-infection, they have little effect. Therefore, some patients ask me in the clinic how to get rid of this annoying disease. For this issue of concern to many people, I would like to talk about my experience here, and I hope it will be helpful to you. First of all, prevention is better than cure. The toe nail fungus is generally caused by cutting the toenail too deep, often people complain: my big toe toenail grows into the flesh, so I have to cut the embedded toenail. I thought that the toenail growing into the flesh is not a big deal, many people are like this, but never cut the toenail growing in, because you deliberately dig out the tip of the toenail, there is a small wound, bacteria invasion, the formation of nail infection, let you suffer, inflammation of the big toe is more difficult to heal. It is better to leave the toenail a little longer and cut it flat when you cut it, not to deliberately cut the two corners that grow into the flesh. The nail fungus is usually caused by tearing the skin spur below the nail, so if you have a long spur, use nail clippers to cut it, and never tear it. Secondly, about treatment. If there is no serious redness, swelling or pus, there is no need to take antibiotics. If the nail infection has just started, you can soak the tincture of Neosporin at least 3 times a day for 5-10 minutes, to ensure that the medicine fully infiltrates the wound, it is best to cut the toenail blocking the wound, a good exposure, after soaking available band-aids to protect the wound. And the wound should not be touched by water, and foot washing and bathing should be protected with great care. Mild nail fungus can be cured by soaking. If there is no improvement after soaking, and the disease is a little longer, the nail wound generally has round granular granulation, and there is pus flow, soft tissue swelling. It is best to remove the proliferating granules at this time to remove the bacterial breeding ground in one fell swoop, while the soaking therapy can also reach the affected area, this operation can be carried out in the clinic, by the way, you can remove a small amount of toenail affected, but more painful, you can play some local anesthetic. After the wound is cleared, you can continue to soak the nail at home, and you can also supplement it with oral antibiotics, which usually heals. The nail fungus is usually located on both sides of the toenail and does not hurt the root of the toenail, so nail removal is not necessary. The nail fungus of the finger is more troublesome after the skin prick is pulled, and there is no special clearing to do, and the disease progresses faster. If soaking therapy and oral antibiotics are not effective, the infection may accumulate pus at the base of the nail in a few days, and the nail will loosen and float, so nail extraction is inevitable.
