The probability that a nodule on the lung is cancer

When nodules in the lungs are judged by the size of the nodules, the malignancy rate is 1% for lung nodules less than 5 mm in diameter. Nodules with a diameter of 11-20mm have a malignancy rate of 33%-64%. For lung nodules larger than 20 mm in diameter, the malignancy rate reaches 64%-82%. The larger the diameter of lung nodules, the higher the malignancy rate, as analyzed by clinical data. The most important thing is to clarify the diagnosis through further examination in hospital, such as chest CT, chest tumor markers, finding cancer cells in sputum, bronchoscopy, etc. If patients are diagnosed with lung cancer, those with indications for surgery are recommended to undergo surgery as soon as possible, while those without indications for surgery are recommended to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
