What are the common causes of cerebral palsy?

  The causes of cerebral palsy are diverse and can be divided into prenatal, perinatal and postnatal factors, but according to the clinical observation of medical doctors for many years, it is mostly caused by difficult birth, premature birth, neonatal asphyxia and nuclear jaundice. About 15-20% of the cases are difficult to find a clear cause from clinical data.  During pregnancy: intrauterine infection, fetal toxicity, fetal brain injury, placenta praevia, chromosomal abnormalities and other genetic diseases, maternal smoking, alcoholism or mental stimulation, pre-eclampsia, maternal diabetes, hyperemesis.  Perinatal period: birth injury, asphyxia and hypoxia, emergency delivery, preterm delivery, overdue delivery, umbilical cord encirclement, giant baby, multiple births, low weight baby, intracranial hemorrhage, nuclear jaundice.  Neonatal period: encephalitis, meningitis, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, carbon monoxide poisoning, severe pneumonia.
