Can eyelashes grow back when they fall out?

Whether or not your eyelashes will grow back depends on the cause of the loss. If they fall out naturally, they can grow back, but if they are caused by a disease, you will need to determine whether or not your eyelashes will grow back according to the cause of the disease. Eyelashes have a normal growth cycle, and as long as the hair follicles are normal, they can grow back in most cases. In the case of blepharitis or folliculitis, if the inflammation is controlled and the follicles remain intact, the eyelashes can grow back. If the hair follicles at the eyelashes are damaged, such as bald eyelash disease that causes necrosis of the hair follicles, then the eyelashes cannot grow back after they fall out. It is recommended that patients with eyelash abnormalities seek medical attention to have their condition evaluated and treated as prescribed by their physician.
