What does platelet backlog mean?

Platelet pressure volume is the volume of all platelets in the peripheral blood as a percentage of the blood volume. An increase or decrease in platelet pressure volume is considered an abnormal condition. A decrease in platelet pressure volume indicates a decrease in the volume of platelets in the peripheral blood. The most common cause is a decrease in the number of platelets, including a decrease in the number of platelets caused by various diseases, such as immune thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, paroxysmal sleep hemoglobinuria, and other diseases. Due to the decrease in the number of platelets, all of them will have a reduced platelet pressure product. The most common cause of an increased platelet pressure product is an increased number of platelets, such as primary thrombocytosis and reactive thrombocytosis, which can cause a high platelet pressure product. When the platelet pressure is high, the body is prone to thrombosis or embolic diseases. For patients with hypertension and coronary artery disease, if they have high platelet pressure, they need to identify the cause in time to reduce the number of platelets and, if necessary, take aspirin and other medication.
