What’s with the sudden dizziness and the spinning?



Sudden dizziness skyward may be caused by physiological vertigo, or it may be caused by vestibular neuritis, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and other diseases such as Meniere’s disease.

1. Physiological vertigo: generally in the elevator, boat or airplane, some people vestibular more sensitive to external stimuli, may be a transient vertigo, nausea and vomiting and other manifestations, so the patient will be manifested as a sudden dizziness, most people will be relieved after rest.

2. Vestibular neuritis: the cause of vestibular neuritis is not yet clear, and it is considered to be related to bacterial infection and vestibular microcirculation disorder. Patients will experience sudden dizziness, nystagmus, nausea and vomiting, and so on, so patients will experience sudden dizziness and a feeling of heavenly rotation.

3. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: the etiology of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is unknown at present, and it is considered to be related to cranial injury and viral neuritis. When the patient’s head position changes, sudden rotational vertigo, nausea and other manifestations will occur, and thus the patient will experience sudden dizziness and spinning symptoms.

4. Other: Sudden dizziness may also be caused by Meniere’s disease, radiculopathy, hypoglycemia and other diseases.

If the sudden dizziness is caused by physiological factors, no treatment is needed. If the sudden dizziness is caused by disease, the patient needs to check the cause of the disease in time, and need to choose the appropriate treatment measures after clarifying the cause of the disease.
