Brown sputum is one of the specific types of discharged secretions from the respiratory tract. It is more common clinically in bronchitis and lobar pneumonia, and the main pathogen causing the infection is pneumococcus. Clinical treatment is based on expectoration, sputumification and anti-inflammatory therapy, with radiographs of both lungs and sputum examination as necessary to clarify the diagnosis. The treatment options are carboxymethylstilbestrol oral solution, tranylcypromine syrup, orange-red phlegm cough solution, and brown combination to remove phlegm; and anti-inflammatory treatment with antibiotics such as penicillin, amoxicillin clavulanate potassium, cefuroxime sodium, roxithromycin, and clindamycin. The course of treatment is about 5-7 days, and the treatment plan will be adjusted again at any time according to the changes of the disease.
