What does hemolysis in babies mean?

Hemolysis in babies is the rupture of red blood cells and spillage of hemoglobin.
Hemolysis in babies ruptures the red blood cells, causing the child to develop yellow skin, anemia, and enlarged liver and spleen. There are many common causes of hemolysis:
1. infection: in humans, hemolysis can be caused by hemolytic bacterial infection.
2. Antigen-antibody reaction: neonatal ABO hemolysis, neonatal Rh-negative hemolysis and so on. It is one of the main causes of hemolysis in newborns.
3. Intrinsic (membrane, enzyme) defects of red blood cells: such as serosanguineous disease, which is an important cause of hemolysis in children.
4. Pharmacological hemolysis: primaquine, pumoloquine, etc. can cause pharmacological hemolysis.
There are many reasons for hemolysis in babies, and it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to make a diagnosis and treatment plan according to the reasons.
