Parotid nodules are a type of lymphogranulomatosis, which is a localized swelling caused by parotitis. Most of the nodules are benign and a few are malignant. The most common symptoms of parotid nodules are large lumps in the area around the earlobes, accompanied by fever, difficulty in opening the mouth and loss of appetite. In severe cases, when the patient touches the enlarged parotid gland, it will be accompanied by pain, which is mostly benign; if the nodule is hard and involves the facial nerve, the patient will have a crooked angle of the mouth, and the eyes can not be closed, which is usually malignant. When the patient suffers from parotid nodules, it is recommended to consume liquid food and prohibit the consumption of stimulating and spicy food, and to avoid excessive opening of the mouth, which will lead to deepening of the pain. Meanwhile, some anti-inflammatory and anti-viral drugs such as amoxicillin and ribavirin can be taken. If there is no obvious effect of medication, it is recommended to go to the hospital for surgical treatment. By removing part of the parotid gland, this method can reduce the chance of recurrence of parotid nodules. Meanwhile, care should be taken after surgery to avoid wound infection. When patients suffer from parotid nodules, it is recommended to go to the hospital and receive professional treatment from the doctor to avoid delaying the condition.
