Small rice-like growths on the upper eyelid of a patient’s eye may be associated with a variety of conditions, such as fat grains, papillomas, and granulomas. If a patient has small rice-like elevations on the eyelids, if they are white granules, they may be fat grains. Fatty grains may be a white granule that is created as a result of damage to the skin caused by irritating ingredients in cosmetics, while the skin is repairing itself. If the patient has papillary granules on the eyelids, it may be a squamous cell papilloma of the eyelids. Squamous cell papilloma is the most common benign lesion of the eyelid and may be caused by human papillomavirus infection. Patients with granuloma may present with redness, swelling, and pain in the eyelid, and in later stages, an abscess may form in the eyelid and a white spot may form at the tip of the abscess. It is recommended that patients with elevated swellings on the eyelids and other discomforts seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
