Massage may be effective in reducing pain around the hip and relieving symptoms, but it cannot cure necrosis of the femoral head. Necrosis of the femoral head is a disease in which the veins of the femoral head become stagnant and the blood supply to the arteries is impaired or interrupted, causing partial death of the bone cells and bone marrow, leading to pain and dysfunction in the hip joint. Massage alone has no effect on the reconstruction and improvement of the bone of the femoral head, but it is useful in relieving the pain that occurs in the hip joint. If the pain is significant, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and nimesulide can be taken to relieve inflammation and pain. Surgical treatment can also be chosen according to the condition, such as core decompression, autologous bone grafting with blood transport, artificial joint replacement, and so on. Therefore, simple massage has no definite therapeutic effect on femoral head necrosis, and the presence of ischemic necrosis of the femoral head should actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment.
