How to exercise your fingers in hemiplegia

Hemiplegic patients exercise their fingers in different ways depending on the degree of hemiplegia. If the fingers are completely weak, passive exercise is the mainstay; if they are mildly weak, self-exercise is the mainstay.
1. Complete weakness of fingers: patients should cross their fingers with both hands and drive the affected limbs to perform flat extension activities with the healthy hand, and move each joint of wrist, fingers and interphalangeal joints into place during the process of straightening and lifting up. Also need to do passive movement with the help of the rehabilitation therapist, can help the patient to do finger flexion, finger rocking and wrist movement.
2. Mild weakness: patients can perform rehabilitation exercises on their own, or with the help of equipment for hand strength rehabilitation, including hand flexion and extension, wrist flexion and extension, grip strength, finger pairs and so on. When the strength is recovered well, the patient can carry out fine exercises, such as finger-pairing and finger-pinching training, picking up beans, fastening buttons, and so on.
In addition to exercising fingers, hemiplegic patients should also actively treat primary diseases, such as stroke. Patients are advised to undergo suitable treatment and rehabilitation under the guidance of a doctor.
