Scabies is a contact infectious skin disease caused by the scabies mite (scabies) infected skin. Scabies is transmitted by the scabies mite through direct contact, but also indirectly through contact with the clothing used by the patient, and can spread epidemically between families and contacts. Adult scabies mites are parasitic in the human epidermal stratum corneum, and at night scabies mites dig tunnels under the skin that run parallel to the body surface. The itching symptoms of the patient are related to the physical and chemical stimulation of the scabies mite excreta and other excreta by the scabies mite moving in the skin lesions. The lesions occur in the thin and soft skin areas such as the finger crease, wrist flexure, elbow fossa, axilla, umbilicus, waist, lower abdomen, genitalia, groin and upper inner femur, and generally do not involve the head and face, palm and plantar, with the exception of children. The lesions are pinpoint-sized papules and herpes, often accompanied by intense itching at night. Secondary changes such as scratching, crusting, and eczema-like changes often occur after scratching. Male patients can appear in the scrotum, penis and other places can appear green bean to soybean size nodules, called scabies nodules.
