Dosage of Regulating Stomach and Cheng Qi Tang

The dosage is 12g of rhubarb, 6g of Glycyrrhiza glabra and 9g of Glabridin. This formula is one of the three Yangming Chengqi Tangs, with Rhubarb as the ruler, Mangnit as the minister, Glycyrrhiza glabra as the adjuvant, and Glycyrrhiza glabra as the neutralizer. This formula removes heat and swings solid, moistens dryness and softens hardness, is sweet, calm and gentle, and has the efficacy of easing down the heat knot. This formula is mainly used in treating Yang-ming disease with dry heat in the stomach and intestines, manifesting as inability to pass stool, thirst and heartburn, evaporative heat, or abdominal distension and fullness, with yellowish fur on the tongue and slippery pulse; as well as epistaxis (vomiting of blood, nosebleed) caused by gastro-intestinal heat, and soreness of mouth, throat and mouth. The adverse reactions, contraindications and precautions of this formula are not clear at present. It is recommended to use under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and should not be prepared and taken by oneself.
