Screening for chromosomes is usually done through a blood draw and the results of chromosomes are usually available in about 2 weeks. The main purpose of the chromosome test is to see if the number of chromosomes is correct, if there are any chromosome gains or chromosome losses. The chromosome structure is also screened for structural abnormalities such as balanced translocations, rosettes, etc. After the chromosomes are examined in both men and women, the structural and numerical chromosomal abnormalities are evaluated, and if the requirements for IVF are met, assisted reproduction treatment through 3rd generation IVF is often performed to achieve assisted conception.
