Can kidney cysts become cancerous?

Renal cysts are actually benign lesions that occur in the kidneys when there is a lack of communication with the outside world, resulting in the stagnation of tissue and fluid. Kidney cysts are initially found to be benign, but over time, a small percentage of them may become cancerous. Therefore, some kidney cysts may become cancerous, but the chance of such cancer is very low. There are different kinds of kidney cysts, most of the common ones are benign tumors, which are usually caused by various reasons such as poor dietary habits and various infections in life. Kidney cyst is a kind of cyst on the kidney’s own structure, so the chance of malignant lesion is very low. However, if you do not pay attention to your life and diet habits, there is a possibility of cancer, and the kidney cyst will continue to grow and cause abnormal kidney function due to continuous pressure on the surrounding kidney cells, thus seriously endangering the health of patients. Therefore, it is best to treat kidney cysts in time after they are found, and to check them once every six months or once a year, and to check kidney function once every three months. If the kidney cyst is larger than 5cm or if it causes urinary tract obstruction due to compression of surrounding tissues, it should be treated by cyst aspiration and intracapsular injection of sclerosing agent. If the kidney cyst is more than 10cm in size, surgery is required. People with kidney cysts should pay attention to their body changes in daily life, such as pain, weight loss, loss of appetite and other symptoms, they need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
