MRI is mainly used to examine diseases of the central nervous system, diseases of joints and their surrounding soft tissues, and vascular malformations. Specific diseases such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, and intracranial occupying lesions, myelitis, spinal cord occupancy, and spinal cord vascular malformations are some of the diseases. It has good resolution in examining joint soft tissues such as intervertebral discs, ligaments, and meniscal diseases. However, it is not a good choice for examining cavernous organs such as the gastrointestinal tract, and tissues containing more gas such as lung lesions.
