What to do if endometrial cancer metastasizes to the bowel

If endometrial cancer metastasizes to intestines without extra-abdominal metastasis, tumor cytoreductive surgery as well as hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be done. 1. Tumor cytoreductive surgery: if the tumor cells metastasize to the intestinal tract, if there are some digestive symptoms, such as diarrhea, constipation, etc., the tumor cells in the intestinal tract can be partially resected to alleviate the symptoms. If the patient’s general condition is poor and he/she is not capable of surgery, then he/she can’t do it. 2. Hormone therapy: high-efficiency and high-dose progesterone can be used for long-term treatment, which can prolong the progression-free survival of patients, and commonly used drugs include methylgestaglandin and so on. 3. Chemotherapy: it can reduce the distant metastasis outside the abdominal cavity, applicable to patients with high risk factors for recurrence, commonly used drugs such as cisplatin. 4. Radiotherapy: in order to prevent patients from recurrence, or surgical resection is insufficient, radiation therapy can be used as a complementary treatment.
