Adapalene has no hormones. Adapalene is a retinoid compound that is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris with acne, papules and pustules as the main manifestation, and can also be used to treat acne on the face, chest and back. The most common side effects experienced by patients after administration of the drug are causing dry skin, skin irritation, burning sensation and erythema, and may also lead to delayed allergic reactions. Concurrent use of astringent cleansing products and products that can cause dry or irritated skin, such as those with fragrances or containing alcohol, should be avoided while using the medication. Adapalene is not recommended for use during pregnancy and should be discontinued immediately in case of unplanned pregnancy.
