What to do about scoliosis

Scoliosis should be treated as soon as possible, with the aim of correcting the deformity, stabilizing the spine, maintaining balance, and slowing or stopping the progression of the disease. Commonly used methods include non-surgical treatment and surgical treatment.
1. Non-surgical treatment: For patients with scoliosis less than 20°, they should be observed and followed up, and the standing X-ray examination of the spine should be repeated once every 4~6 months to see if there is any progress. For soft progressive scoliosis of 20~40° in growing children, brace treatment is needed, and the brace should be worn for 16~23 hours a day, with regular checkups until the skeleton matures.
2. Surgery: Surgery should be considered for children who have scoliosis that is not controlled by bracing, or whose scoliosis angle exceeds 40°. Surgery usually involves correction of the scoliosis deformity and fusion of the spine to stabilize the spine.
Scoliosis should be treated as soon as possible, and the best treatment plan should be formulated by a professional doctor after a complete spinal examination, and the patient should follow the doctor’s instructions in order to get the best prognosis.
