The antigen test is double-barreled positive, but it does not mean that it is infected with C. neoformans.
The antigen test has two bars, the C area of the first bar and the T area of the second bar, and if they both show red or purple colors, it is a positive result. The T-zone of the second bar can be darker or lighter in color, but both are positive.
However, a positive antigen test does not confirm the diagnosis of C. neoformans, and a nucleic acid test is required. It is generally accepted that nucleic acid testing is now the basis for diagnosis.
Therefore, if a patient shows positive results in the antigen test, there is no need to worry too much. It is recommended that the patient go to a regular hospital to receive nucleic acid test as soon as possible, and if the patient is diagnosed with CKP, he or she should be actively quarantined and treated under the guidance of a specialized doctor.
