How to objectively and scientifically evaluate the efficacy of the treatment?

The current status of treatment at home and abroad: Tourette’s syndrome is a difficult disease worldwide, and the pathogenesis of this disease has not been clarified by the medical community at home and abroad. The current status of treatment is to take haloperidol, Tebri, thiopirid, Tolteria and other drugs, these drugs often need to be taken for a long time, the side effects are very large, each doctor is also very clear about the side effects of drugs, but because there is no better way, whenever there are patients with tics, can only continue to prescribe such drugs. Many places in China try to use Chinese herbal medicines for treatment, but the efficacy is not exact, and they often need to be taken for a long time, some of them for years or even decades, and the symptoms will recur once the medicine is stopped. In fact, the side effects of traditional Chinese medicine are also very large if taken for a long time. As a new treatment, it is normal to have various evaluations. Those who are cured will say that Dr. Lang’s method is good, while those who are not cured will say that Dr. Lang’s treatment is not effective at all, and some even say that it is aggravating. This will bring confusion to other patients who want to be treated, whether it is effective or not, and whether they will be cheated. Therefore, it is necessary to give the public accurate information on how to make an objective and scientific evaluation. After all, tic disorder is a worldwide difficult disease, and our method can only be described as one of many treatment methods, except that this method, compared to other drug treatments, has the advantages of relatively good efficacy, few side effects, and short treatment time (drug treatments often take years or even decades, so even a few months of treatment is already a short time). At the same time, after we rectify the position of the cervical spine, it has very far-reaching clinical significance for the future intellectual development, thinking development, emotional development and even character behavior development and spiritual and psychological development of children. Third, the efficacy evaluation: so why some people have good results and some people have no effect? There are 2 key factors. 1, the child’s protection problem. Since children of this age lack the awareness of self-protection, if parents fail to pay effective attention and supervision, this will directly affect the efficacy. We always emphasize: the efficacy of this is like building a house, the same reason, if the wall, we laid a good foundation, the wall is solid, no shaking, and so on after the cement dry, the wall is very solid, the quality of the house built. If the wall is wobbly, then the quality of the house is definitely not good. Therefore, we find that some children are well protected and are cured after 5-10 treatments, while some are not cured even after repeated treatments for months or even more than a year. Who is responsible for such? We often find that some children have good results after several treatments, but the children are reluctant to take the cervical sleeve, or take it off without permission at school, or run and jump without permission, and the parents do not pay attention to management, resulting in the children’s symptoms recurring, or in some cases, the symptoms have disappeared and the cervical sleeve is removed before the cervical protection period is over, resulting in recurring symptoms. Such parents often will not say that their child’s symptoms recur because they are not protected, but will say that Dr. Lang’s method is ineffective. Here are two examples: (1) A patient from Jiangsu Province came for treatment during the Spring Festival in 2007. As a result, his parents left a message on the Chinese hyperactivity website: Dr. Lang is ineffective here, so don’t go there. (2) A 17-year-old boy in Shanxi was very sick and had psychosomatic symptoms. His mother left at least ten distress messages on China ADHD, and the cervical vertebrae were very obviously deviated. After less than 2 sessions of treatment, the symptoms recovered very well, and the film review before going home was completely normal. As a result, the cervical sleeve was firmly not taken after only a few days at home. This led to a relapse of symptoms 1 month later. His mother also left many messages on the hyperactivity website telling people that Dr. Lang had no effect here at all. 2. Tic disorder with obvious psychosomatic symptoms has poor results. The reason is that it takes a long time for psychosomatic adjustment to take place, and the symptoms of Tourette’s syndrome can become intertwined and interact with each other, forming a vicious circle. A 12-year-old boy in Beijing, who had been treated everywhere, had developed obsessive-compulsive symptoms, kept smashing his face and head with his fist, and had a large ulcer in his mouth that never healed, as well as frequent mouth opening. This led to a vicious cycle of “open mouth-ulcer-boxing”. After more than one month of treatment, the results were poor because the three chains could not be broken. His father also repeatedly said on the Chinese website that Dr. Lang had no effect at all. He advised people not to go there. Of course they can tell people that their own children are not cured, but they will not say that their children have problems in other areas or will not say that the results are not good because of their own poor protection. Recently on this site there was also a parent who said that after 10 months of treatment costing 10,000 yuan, there was no effect at all. This information can be analyzed: (1) If there is really no effect at all, would you treat for 10 months? (2) If the treatment is really 10 months, the cost can be more than 10,000 yuan. Therefore, we judge that this child may have repeated symptoms due to poor protection, or has stopped treatment halfway and later came back for treatment. The website is a communication platform and a good channel to disseminate information, so in order for more people with Tourette’s Syndrome to get accurate information. The website is a communication platform and a good channel to disseminate information. We do not want to exaggerate the effectiveness of our treatment, nor do we want to belittle it. We only hope that we can make an objective and accurate scientific evaluation, so that patients nationwide can get timely and accurate information. Our efficacy: In the past few years since we started acupuncture with orthopedic treatment for Tourette’s syndrome, we have treated about a thousand cases in total. After preliminary statistics, the overall efficiency is about 95%, and the clinical cure rate is about 80%; the average treatment time is about 31 times (this data is preliminary statistics).
