Currently, the Yale General Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) is used to assess the severity of the child’s condition.
The YGTSS is used to assess the severity of tics.
The Yale Rating Scale has three parts, which score motor and vocal tics respectively, mainly from the number, frequency, intensity, complexity and disturbance of the five aspects of the tic severity of the 0-5 grading, then the maximum score of motor and vocal tics respectively is 25, and the maximum total score of the tic obtained from the sum of the two is 50, which reflects the severity of motor and vocal tic symptoms. The third part is the overall impairment scale, which is also scored on a scale of 0 to 5, with a total score of 50, reflecting the child’s overall impairment due to various stresses caused by the tic symptoms, and the degree of difficulties associated with the tics in the child’s self-esteem, family life, social relationships, and performance at school or work.
