How to take Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae

Dihuang is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, mainly produced in Henan Province. According to the different ways of preparation, Dihuang can be divided into fresh Dihuang, raw Dihuang and cooked Dihuang, and the main way of taking Dihuang is to decoct the soup and take it internally.
1. 3. Cooked Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata: This herb is made by washing raw Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata and concocting it according to the method of stewing in wine, which has the efficacy of nourishing yin and tonifying blood, benefiting the essence and filling in the marrow and can be used for the treatment of yin deficiency of the liver and kidneys, soreness of the waist and knees, tidal heat of the bones (a burst of fever, feeling that the heat is penetrating outward from the inside of the bones), internal heat and thirst, blood deficiency, yellowish blood, and palpitations (heartbeat is strong, frightening and disturbing).
It should be noted that the medicinal properties of fresh and raw huai dihuang are on the cold side, so it is not recommended for patients with cold spleen and stomach. Cooked Di Huang is more nourishing and greasy in nature, so avoid eating spicy and stimulating food during the period of taking the medicine to avoid aggravating the burden on the spleen and stomach.
