Can a three-year-old blink on his own?

Whether or not a three-year-old child’s blinking can heal on its own depends on the cause and cannot be generalized. The common causes of blinking in 3 year olds are conjunctivitis, keratitis and other eye diseases, as well as tic disorder, or hyperactivity, or eye fatigue or ingrown eyelashes. If conjunctivitis or other eye diseases are the cause, they are often accompanied by a distinct foreign body sensation in the eyes, redness, tearing, and itching, and cannot be cured on their own, so they need to be treated with antibacterial eye drops. If the problem is caused by ingrown eyelashes, the eyelashes grow inward, resulting in a foreign body sensation, tearing and other symptoms, which also do not heal on their own and require treatment such as extraction or laser. If it is caused by tic disorder, it is often accompanied by symptoms such as eyebrow squeezing, shoulder shrugging, tongue sticking out, etc. It does not heal on its own and has to be treated by medication or psychotherapy. If it is caused by eye strain due to prolonged playing with cell phones, etc., it can usually heal itself after changing bad eye habits. Therefore, it is important to choose ophthalmology or child health clinic for diagnosis and treatment according to different symptoms.
