Generally speaking, the 5-year survival rate of locally advanced rectal cancer after surgery is 50%~70%, but its survival rate is related to many factors, such as tumor type, severity of disease, treatment means, patient’s own physique, psychological state and so on. Rectal cancer is roughly divided into three types: bulging type, infiltrating type and ulcerated type. 1. Bulging type: the tumor grows into the intestinal lumen and has a better prognosis. 2. Invasive type: this type has early metastasis and poor prognosis. 3. Ulcerative type: the most common, this type is less differentiated, metastasizes earlier, and has a poor prognosis. Surgical resection is the main treatment method for locally advanced rectal cancer. After wound healing after surgery, according to the condition, it is also necessary to cooperate with chemotherapy (e.g. 5-FU, mitomycin, etc.), radiotherapy and other comprehensive treatments, which can improve the therapeutic effect to a certain extent. Regular review is also needed after surgery. It is recommended that patients should maintain optimistic mood during the treatment and establish the courage and confidence to fight against the disease, as pessimism is not conducive to the control of the disease. At the same time, the postoperative diet should drink less stimulating beverages, do not eat spicy stimulating, too cold and too hot food, eat less pickled, smoked, fried food. This will improve the quality of life and prolong the survival time.
