The efficacy and effects of Xiang Sha Yang Gastric Pill

  Xiang Sha Yang Gu Wan is a Chinese medicine preparation included in the 2012 edition of the National Basic Drug List. The prescription consists of Atractylodes Macrocephala, Fructus Mucuna Pruriens, Fructus Sandy Root, Cardamom (shell removed), Patchouli, Pericarpium Citri Reticulata, Fructus Aromaticus, Poria, Citrus aurantium (fried), Fructus Paniculata and Licorice. Atractylodes macrocephala is used to tonify the qi and strengthen the spleen, dry dampness and promote water circulation; Mu Xiang is used to harmonize the stomach and relieve pain; Sha Ren is used to awaken the spleen and open the stomach, these three flavors are the ruling herbs. Chen Pi, Hou Pu and Xiang Shen are used as the subject herbs to regulate Qi and harmonize the middle, dry dampness and remove stagnation, regulate Qi and relieve pain. Poria, Citrus aurantium and Radix et Rhizoma are adjuvants, used to strengthen the spleen and relieve dampness, break down Qi and eliminate stagnation, lower rebellion and stop vomiting. Glycyrrhiza glabra is used to harmonize all medicines.  The function of Xiang Sha Yang Gastric Pill is mainly to warm the middle of the body and harmonize the stomach, mainly for the treatment of gastric surge and fullness caused by deficiency of stomach yang and dampness blocking qi stagnation, which is characterized by vague stomach pain, stuffiness, vomiting, noisy and uncomfortable, not thinking about eating and drinking, and tiredness of limbs.  Modern pharmacological research shows that Xiang Sha Yang Gastric Pill has the function of regulating the secretion of digestive juices, adjusting gastrointestinal function, anti-ulcer, anti-bacterial and cholagogic effects. Clinical verification shows that Xiang Sha Yang Gastropel can also be used to treat respiratory tract infections and age-related intestinal dysfunction.
