Rehabilitation training after knee arthroplasty includes muscle strength training around the knee joint, knee flexion and extension training. The main purpose is to promote the recovery of knee joint function of patients after surgery, so that their squatting function, walking function, joint range of motion, and joint stability can be improved.
1. Muscle strength training: early isometric contraction of quadriceps and ankle pump training can be carried out, and straight leg raising training can also be carried out. Gradually, the resistance training of the muscles around the knee joint can be carried out.
Specific practice for the patient sitting on the bedside to do knee extension. Let the patient’s calf hang down when doing exercise, and tie the sandbag with resistance on the ankle, and start with a small weight, gradually increase the weight of the sandbag, and gradually increase the resistance.
2. Exercise of knee function and flexion and extension activities: passive knee flexion and extension activities are feasible in the early postoperative period. Knee straightening training means that if the patient is lying on the bed, he needs to straighten his leg completely, and the knee joint can be completely affixed to the bed surface after light pressure is exerted.
The maximum knee flexion angle in the early postoperative period should not exceed 30 degrees. The angle of passive activity can be gradually increased by keeping it for 1-2 days. 2-4 weeks after surgery, the knee flexion should ideally reach 90 degrees, in order not to produce excessive pain and be tolerated by the patient. After that, the training should be continued until the flexion angle reaches 120~140 degrees.
It is recommended that patients practice under the guidance of a doctor, so as not to cause injury to the organism by blindly exercising on one’s own.
