Taking entecavir for 5 years for hepatitis B may not necessarily turn all the way around. Entecavir belongs to antiviral drugs, which is mainly suitable for the treatment of chronic adult hepatitis B characterized by active viral replication and persistent elevation of ALT. Entecavir is mainly used to inhibit the replication of hepatitis B virus, but it does not kill hepatitis B completely. Therefore, after taking entecavir for 5 years, the indicators of hepatitis B will not necessarily be completely negative. Usually, taking entecavir for 5 years can achieve normalization of hepatitis B DNA quantification and stabilization of liver function, but it is unlikely that hepatitis B surface antigen will become negative. Long-term use of entecavir can maintain the body at a relatively low viral load level and low viral replication rate, but it cannot guarantee the total elimination of hepatitis B virus.
