In patients <65 years of age, survival is longer in patients who undergo autologous stem cell transplantation early compared to those who undergo late transplantation, so the suitability of stem cell transplantation should be assessed at the start of treatment and as far as possible, options that do not interfere with haematopoietic stem cell function and mobilisation for collection should not be chosen.
