Which stage of orthodontics is wearing a leather band

Orthodontic treatment is generally divided into four phases, namely the alignment and leveling, gap closure, fine adjustment, and maintenance phases. Orthodontic wearing of leather bands is generally in the second and third stages. The purpose is to harmonize the sagittal, lateral and vertical relationships between the upper and lower jaws, upper and lower dental arches.
1. To adjust the relationship between upper and lower jaws, upper and lower dental arches, such as class II traction and class III traction.
2. Coordinate the upper and lower teeth midline.
3. Increase the degree of lateral and posterior cuspal fossa inlay as well as anterior overdenture, e.g., triangular traction, parallelogram traction.
4. Close the post-extraction gap.
Orthodontic wearing leather bands may be every orthodontist need to experience, but wearing time and wearing way, according to the condition of their own teeth, by the doctor’s judgment, from person to person. Orthodontics is an ongoing process that requires patience.
