Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is not recommended for kidney stones 22mmx8mm.
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is suitable for patients with kidney stones ≤2cm in diameter and no obstruction at the distal end of the urinary tract. 22mmx8mm kidney stones are large in size, and extracorporeal shock wave may not be able to crush the stones completely, so it is generally not recommended.
Surgery is usually recommended for kidney stones >2cm in diameter, and currently percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is the most commonly used method of lithotripsy, which involves puncturing through the skin to establish a channel into the renal pelvis, and placing a nephrolithoscope and lithotripsy device into the renal pelvis for lithotripsy treatment. The lithotripsy can be done by ultrasound, laser or pneumatic ballistic.
Kidney stone 22mmx8mm is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible, under the guidance of professional doctors to give scientific and reasonable treatment.
