Do women have kidneys?

Women have kidneys. Normally women have two kidneys like men; the kidneys are located on either side of the spine, close to the posterior abdominal wall and behind the peritoneum. The upper end of the left kidney is level with the lower edge of the 11th thoracic vertebra and the lower end is level with the lower edge of the 2nd lumbar vertebra. The right kidney is half a vertebra lower than the left kidney. The left 12th rib slopes across the middle of the back of the left kidney and the right 12th rib slopes across the upper part of the back of the right kidney. Kidneys excrete metabolic wastes in the body in the form of urination; kidneys have endocrine roles, such as secretion of erythropoietin, which promotes the production of red blood cells; kidneys have the role of excretion and reabsorption of potassium, sodium, chloride and calcium in order to regulate the electrolytes and the acid-base balance of the body within the normal range. Kidney disease can be roughly understood by checking urine routine, renal ultrasound, renal X-ray and CT, nephrography and other tests, suspected of kidney disease should go to the hospital in a timely manner to consult the doctor for examination.
