There are 3 types of tests that can be done for liver problems: liver function, imaging tests, pathology and liver biopsy.
1. Liver function tests are mainly the 5 liver function tests including alanine aminotransferase, glutamic oxalate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin and indirect bilirubin, and other tests such as albumin, cholinesterase, etc. The most convenient imaging test is ultrasound, which can visualize lesions such as cysts.
2. The easiest imaging is ultrasound, which is non-invasive and can visualize lesions such as cysts and hepatic hemangiomas, etc. In addition, CT, enhanced CT and MRI are also commonly used.
3. Pathology is mainly the examination of microscopic lesions, which can be sent for examination during surgery or after puncture biopsy. Liver puncture is an invasive test, but it is the most reliable way to confirm the diagnosis of the disease.
Other tests include blood and urine routine, coagulation routine and tumor markers, etc. No matter which test method is used, it needs to be chosen by the doctor according to the patient’s specific situation after evaluating the condition.
