Tooth demineralization is the process by which minerals in the teeth dissolve in the presence of acid resulting in the precipitation of calcium phosphates from the teeth.
Dental demineralization is mainly caused by the lack of good oral care, resulting in a large number of bacterial reproduction and interaction with food debris, producing a large amount of acid; as a result, the ph value of the oral cavity is reduced, corrosion of tooth enamel leading to its demineralization.
Its main clinical symptom is that the surface of the teeth is chalky and the gloss decreases, mostly seen in the anterior teeth area, which is the early clinical manifestation of smooth surface caries.
To prevent tooth demineralization, first of all, we should maintain oral hygiene and cleanliness, and use the correct way of brushing; secondly, we can apply fluoride or resin restoration; finally, we should form a good dietary habits, try to avoid eating overly sweet or acidic food, and carry out regular dental specialist examination, and find out the problem in time for treatment.
