Varicocele surgery is painless and can be effectively tolerated. There are three types of varicocele surgery, all of which require anesthesia, and all of which can be safely tolerated by patients. The traditional one is the high spermatic vein ligation in the inguinal region, which can be performed under local anesthesia or under epidural anesthesia and is generally less invasive and can be tolerated by the patient with this mild pain. Another type is laparoscopic spermatic vein high ligation, which is a general anesthesia procedure and is a minimally invasive procedure that is much less painful. The third type is microscopic varicocele high ligation, which can also be performed under local anesthesia or epidural anesthesia, both of which are less invasive and can be tolerated.
