Varicose veins in the lower extremities should be treated promptly

Varicose veins in the lower extremities are common and frequent in clinical practice. Except for a few cases (such as pregnancy), varicose veins can be partially recovered, but most of them are difficult to recover once they are varicose, and the condition will gradually worsen. The main manifestation of varicose veins is that the superficial veins of the lower extremities are tortuous-like masses, which can be accompanied by pain, discomfort and heaviness, followed by ankle edema, skin keratinization, pigmentation, and even skin ulcers and thrombosis. In severe cases, bleeding and infection may occur, which may seriously affect work and life, so patients should be treated promptly. At present, varicose veins are thought to be caused by lesions of high venous valves, which lead to reverse flow in the distal direction of the lower limbs. Those with mild symptoms can be treated with conservative therapy such as wearing elastic stockings, which can slow down the development of the disease to some extent. However, those with significant symptoms should receive early surgical treatment. However, the traditional treatment method is to use intravascular luminal injection sclerotherapy, which often leads to complications such as deep vein thrombosis and perivascular inflammation after surgery, and is time-consuming and invasive. The patient is also bedridden for a longer period of time. The most advanced surgical method for treating varicose veins in the lower extremities is a combination of high ligation of the main saphenous vein, paralleling full stripping, punctate incision of varicose branches, venous electrocoagulation and ligation of traffic branch veins. Pang Hongyong said, this surgery is less invasive, only two incisions of 2cm in the groin and 1cm on the inner ankle, plus a few small punctiform incisions on the calf, the average operating time is only 40 minutes, and you can get out of bed the next day of surgery. Pang Hongyong reminded the patients that it is very important to prevent varicose veins in the lower limbs, and they should do more exercises of swinging their legs up and down and more leg massages in general. When standing, it is better to let both legs rotate to support the weight. To make the habit of washing feet with hot water every night before going to bed, avoid washing feet with cold water. Do not lower limbs too little activity or lower limbs for a long time sagging immobile.
