Are lymph node lesions serious?

The severity of lymph node lesions depends on the cause of the lymph node lesion. If the lymph node disease is caused by local inflammation and infection, such as folliculitis of the skin or sebaceous cyst and infection, the enlarged lymph nodes in this case are benign lesions, and the enlarged lymph nodes will gradually subside without serious complications through active anti-infection treatment and removal of local infectious lesions. However, if the lymph node lesion is caused by tumor cell invasion, the condition is more serious, such as lymph node metastasis in the axilla due to breast malignancy, lymph node invasion in the hilar region due to liver malignancy, or lymph node metastasis in the lesser or greater curvature of the stomach due to gastric malignancy. Such cases often indicate that the tumor is in the middle and advanced stage, and even if surgery is performed, the patient’s prognosis is often poor.
