Atractylodes macrocephala zeylanicum and white mustard taken together can be used for spleen qi deficiency (weakness of spleen qi), dysuria (unsmooth urination), edema and distension.
Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae has the efficacy of strengthening the spleen and benefiting qi, drying dampness and inducing diuresis, stopping sweating and tranquilizing the fetus, and can be used for spleen deficiency with low food intake, abdominal distension and diarrhea, phlegm-beverage vertigo and palpitations (vertigo and palpitations due to phlegm-beverage and evil qi upward aggression), oedema, self-sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime that is aggravated with the slightest movement), and restlessness of fetus. It is not suitable for those with yin deficiency, internal heat and fluid depletion.
Zedoary has the effect of inducing diuresis and seepage of dampness (promoting the operation of water to dispel dampness), draining heat, resolving turbidity and lowering fat (clearing the body of impurities and reducing excess fat), and can be used for urinary incontinence, oedema and distension, diarrhea and urination, phlegm and dizziness, heat drenching (burning and tingling pains in urination, accompanied by frequent urination and urination, and discomfort of pulling in the abdomen) and astringent pain, and hyperlipidaemia.
White mustard has the efficacy of warming the lungs and expelling phlegm, inducing qi dispersal, clearing the channels and relieving pain, and can be used for cold phlegm and coughing, swelling and pain in the chest and ribs, and phlegm-dampness effusion (multiple abscesses originating in the deep muscle). It is contraindicated in people with prolonged cough and lung deficiency, as well as in people with yin deficiency and fire exuberance. It is contraindicated in people with peptic ulcers, bleeding and skin allergies.
Adverse effects of the above drugs are not known. If there is a need for medication, it is recommended that it be used under the guidance of a professional physician, and not blindly self-medication.
