Why do I have back pain with subxiphoid pain?

Acute subxiphoid pain due to certain visceral pathologies can present with a specific radiating pain, i.e. pain somewhere away from the diseased organ. For example, biliary disorders such as cholelithiasis and biliary colic may radiate to the back of the right shoulder; pain from pancreatitis may radiate to the back of the left lower back; and perforated gastroduodenal ulcers may radiate to the shoulder.
