Unconscious bedwetting in women at night may not necessarily be a sign of illness, but may be related to factors such as staying up late for long periods of time or working extremely hard during the day and not urinating before bedtime. If bedwetting is chronic, it is usually associated with the presence of pathological factors such as urinary tract infections, bladder outlet obstruction, idiopathic urge incontinence, bladder stones, bladder and urethritis, and other factors such as congenital spina bifida, cranial trauma, sequelae of neurological conditions due to diabetes, and insufficient oestrogen production.
