The effects of cardamom are to remove dampness and move qi, warm and stop vomiting (treating vomiting caused by stomach cold by warming the spleen and stomach), and to open the stomach and eliminate food.
Cardamom is pungent in flavor and warm in nature; it belongs to the lung, spleen and stomach meridians. It is mainly used for treating distention and fullness in the epigastrium (stomach and abdomen), lack of appetite, the first signs of dampness-warmth (warmth caused by feeling dampness-heat), stuffiness in the chest and lack of hunger, vomiting caused by cold in the stomach, and non-digestion of food stagnation (accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion of food).
It should be noted that people with yin deficiency and blood dryness without cold and dampness should not take cardamom. The adverse effects of cardamom are not known.
Prompt medical attention is recommended in case of discomfort. If you need to use cardamom to treat diseases, it must be used under professional medical supervision.
