How to manage multiple multiple rib fractures

The presence of multiple multiple rib fractures is usually a relatively serious traumatic disease, which can easily cause serious complications such as shackle chest, hemopneumothorax, and shock. For the management of patients with such fractures, it is necessary to improve the relevant examinations, closely monitor the changes of the patient’s vital signs, and for patients with shock, active anti-shock treatment is required. If hemopneumothorax is present, closed drainage of the chest cavity needs to be performed in a timely manner. If the fracture is significantly displaced, it also needs to be treated with internal fixation of the rib fracture by incision and reduction. For patients with rib fractures that are not significantly displaced and do not have the above-mentioned complications, the patient can be fixed with a brace, given symptomatic treatment such as pain relief, and advised to rest in bed and avoid strenuous activities, and patients who smoke need to quit smoking to prevent coughing from aggravating pain symptoms.
