The correct way to brush a baby’s tongue

The proper way to brush an infant’s tongue is to have the infant rinse his or her mouth with warm water after drinking milk and gently wipe the infant’s tongue with a clean gauze if necessary. Rinsing the infant’s mouth with lukewarm water after drinking milk reduces the amount of breast milk left in the infant’s mouth. Rinsing with warm water can dilute the breast milk and acidic secretions in the baby’s mouth, which helps to reduce bacterial growth and the production of moss on the back of the tongue. If the tundra on the back of the baby’s tongue is serious and affects eating, parents can gently wipe the baby’s tongue with a clean gauze, and the rough gauze can scrape off part of the tundra. However, during the wiping process, it should be kept away from the throat so as not to induce the infant’s gag reflex and cause nausea and vomiting. Usually the tundra on the back of the infant’s tongue does not need special treatment, but parents should pay attention to the infant’s oral hygiene.
