Hormone-sensitive lipase is a substance secreted by adipose tissue cells and can be found in tissues such as pancreas, muscle, testes, and adrenal glands. Hormone-sensitive lipase is a cellular neutral lipase that hydrolyzes mono-, diglycerides, and triglycerides. If hormone-sensitive lipase is abnormal, further hormone testing is needed to find the cause, including epinephrine, thyroid stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone deficiency, and thyroxine, which may cause a decrease in enzyme activity and subsequently lead to hyperlipidemia. In addition, hyperlipidemia is a relatively dangerous disease, and patients need to be actively treated after diagnosis.
