Polymethylsulfonyl solution has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect, including Gram-positive and negative bacteria and certain fungi, especially against anaerobic bacteria and Trichomonas. The drug selectively acts on necrotic tissue and columnar epithelium and is able to denature and detach them, but has no effect on normal squamous epithelium, and acts as a hemostatic agent by coagulating plasma proteins and significantly stimulating vasoconstriction. Based on its pharmacological action polymethanesulfonate solution is mainly used for topical anti-infective treatment of gynecological disorders, for the local treatment of local inflammation of the cervix and vagina, such as increased leucorrhea caused by bacteria, trichomonas or mycobacteria, for warts, for pressure ulcers of the uterus, and for hemostasis after removal of cervical polyps or biopsy. Besides, it can also be used in surgery and dermatology to accelerate the shedding of necrotic tissues after burns and promote the healing process, such as for small burns, limb ulcers, decubitus ulcers, chronic inflammation and acute warts that cause tissue necrosis. It can also be used in otolaryngology and can be used for local treatment of inflammation of oral mucosa and gingiva, such as mouth ulcers, after tonsillectomy and after nosebleeds to stop bleeding. In conclusion, polymethylphenol sulfonyl solution has mainly antibacterial effect, and also has some hemostatic effect.
