The following antiseptic solutions should be applied to treat wounds, such as bismuth, iodophor, alcohol, red mercury and gentian violet. In case of general traumatic wounds, the wound must first be disinfected repeatedly with hydrogen peroxide before applying iodophor or red mercury, gentian violet, etc. However, if there is a superficial mucosal injury, it is not recommended to use alcohol or red mercury as well as gentian violet, and it is recommended to disinfect with iodophor because iodophor is less irritating to the mucosa. However, if there is an epidermal abrasion, disinfection with hydrogen peroxide can be followed by topical application of red mercury or gentian violet, which can form a protective film on the epidermis to prevent further invasion by other bacteria. In the case of very neat surgical incisions, iodophor or alcohol can be used to disinfect them. Infected wounds must be wet dressed with antiseptic solution, and the wet dressing is with iodophor or alcohol.
